Deeper Shade Of Blue

No sign of rain
not a cloud to be seen
a clear blue sky
the colour is the same
as the colour of your eyes
that perfect hue
but in my heart
there’s a deeper shade of blue

waves lap the shore
wash our footprints from the sand
and who’s to know
they join the sea once more
and change from white to indigo
guess we changed too
in my heart
there’s a deeper shade of blue

most people say
the world seems grey
when they lose the one they adore
since losing you
the opposite’s true
I’ve found a colour I’ve never seen before

the sun goes down
for a moment twilight reigns
night woos day
they share a sapphire gown
all too soon it fades away
as love can do
in my heart
there’s a deeper shade of blue
